Acne Whitening Gel

non-prescription PIH (Hyperpigmentation) treatments?

I have mild acne but almost every spot I get ends up leaving a light brown mark and it doesn’t look very good. Anybody know good non prescription creams, gels, masks etcetera that will help whiten and brighten the spots and help them fade quicker?

I have this problem too, and fortunately the spots fade by themselves over time, though it can take weeks or months. The most important thing is to keep your skin clear, and the best ingredients for both keeping clear and fading PIH quicker are: alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids (AHAs and BHAs) in well-formulated leave-on exfoliants.

I use Neutrogena Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Treatment (2% BHA), and Neostrata has some good AHAs and Paula’s Choice has good BHAs and AHAs. Acids can be a little irritating to the skin, so I would start with two or three nights per week, and adding in more nights if your skin tolerates it. And of course, use good sun protection.
